The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to launch ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ project at Goaso in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The government’s flagship agricultural programme is expected to be rolled out in all the 216 districts in Ghana.
Five main crops which would be cultivated under the project include: soya beans, rice, maize, sorghum and vegetables based on five key pillars including provision of certified fertilizer, seeds, marketing and e-Agriculture, extension service.
The Akufo-Addo’s government has stated that the project will create over 750,000 jobs.
It has also assured to build a 1000-metric tonnes capacity warehouse in all the districts to ensure enough storage capacity to enable them market the expected yields.
The President will be accompanied by the Minister Agriculture Dr. Afriyie Akoto, other ministers and extension officers.
