Assembly Members will face our wrath if Ejisu MCE Nominee is Voted- NPP Youth Wing

The Convener for Ejisu Juaben New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Wing Executives Nana Osei Bonsu has threatened that assembly members in the area will face their wrath if they vote for the Municipal Chief Executive nominee Beatrice Serwaa Derkyi.

The youth, women wings and other groups of the party weeks ago embarked on demonstration when Madam Serwaa Derkyi was tipped for the position.

The Convener for the Ejisu Juaben Youth Wing Executives accused the leadership of the party and the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of disregarding their concerns by nominating Madam Serwaa Derkyi.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo with Austine Wood, he said the youth in the area cannot work with the MCE nominee because she is not an indigene of the area and does not vote in the municipality.

A disappointed Youth Convener added that they don’t believe she will have a cordial relationship with the executives in the area saying majority of the assembly members are not enthused by her nomination.

Nana Bonsu explained that the assembly members who have the law in their hands should know better by not voting for Madam Serwaa Derkyi.

‘By law, Madam Serwaa Derkyi’s nomination is in the bosom of the assembly members, who will either vote for her or not. They know the reality on the ground, all is not well in the municipality so if they decide to turn a blind eye to the reality, we don’t have any issue, its their own palaver. But if they are aware that they are representing us at the assembly, we expect them to do the right thing by voting against her. They know our choice so they shouldn’t go contrary to it. We will not hit the streets but will resort to the law. We are against her nomination because she doesn’t vote in the municipality, she is not an indigene,’ he fumed.

Asked if the President made a wrong choice, he said, ‘the nomination of Madam Serwaa Derkyi is an error, its a serious blunder’.

Nana Bonsu said the President has been misinformed about the selection of the candidate saying her nomination is tantamount to dividing the party’s front.

‘She is not known in the area,’ he said.
