Security tightened for Manchester United’s Europa League final vs Ajax at Friends Arena after terror attack

Security has been stepped up at the Friends Arena in Stockholm for Manchester United’s Europa League final vs Ajax following Monday’s terror attack in Manchester.

There have been 22 casualties, report the BBC, following an explosion at an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena.

The Friends Arena, home of the Swedish national team and AIK, will now have a heightened police presence to defend against a potentially greater security risk.

A group of police appeared to receive a briefing outside the stadium ahead of Wednesday’s showpiece.

Manchester United cancelled their pre-match press conference before holding a minute’s silence during training.

Opponents Ajax sent their condolences after the tragedy with rivals Chelsea also taking time out from their preparations for Saturday’s FA Cup final to pay their respects.
