Government allocates 32.3% GETFund resources to tertiary education-MoE

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Education, Mr Enoch H. Cobbinah has stated emphatically that Nana Addo’s government remains committed to expanding access to Tertiary Education in Ghana.

Mr. Cobbinah addressing the 10th session of the 51st congregation of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on behalf of Education Minister Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, revealed that an amount of Two Hundred and Fifty-Five Million Ghana Cedis (GHC255M) representing 32.3% of GETFund resources for this year has being allocated to the Tertiary Sector for the implementation of projects and programmes.

According to Chief Director of the Ministry of Education, Mr Enoch H. Cobbinah, the 32.3% of GETFund resources will support the completion of KNUST Medical school, Lecture Hall Complex and some academic facilities.

“Adequate funding of higher education has been a major challenge for successive government in Ghana. As part of effort to deal with this problem, government has committed itself to the establishment of a research fund,’ he said.
