Kotoko accident: Eight players discharged from KATH, one feared dead

Kotoko players who were involved in a gory accident on the Nkawkaw highway in the Eastern region on Wednesday evening have been treated and discharged from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The players were returning from Accra following their midweek clash against Inter Allies when the bus carrying the players together with the coaches ran over a stationery truck.

The eight players discharged include: Nafiu Awudu, Sadick Addams, S. Gyamfi, E. Gyamfi, Ahmed Adams, Evans Quao, Eric Donkor and Baba Mahama.

The Equipment officer of the club George Asare is reported dead.

Ultimate FM’s Sports Editor Fentuo Tahiru reported that the head coaches Steve Polack and Godwin Ablordey, together with other players who sustained various degrees of injuries are in stable condition.

He added that Ashittey Ollenu who is in critical condition has been sent back to the ward for further treatment.

‘I can say the players are traumatised by the death of their equipment officer,’ he said.

The mate of the truck is also dead.
