Newcastle United winger, Christian Atsu has assured fans of the ‘Magpies’ his best is yet to come for the club ahead of the 2017/2018 English Premier League season.
Atsu, who is a Chelsea player joined Newcastle on-loan in September last year in the Championship.
Since his arrival, the 25-year-old has not flattered to deceive, as he’s produced some excellent performances for the Toons and given the fans something to cheer about.
“I think I’m more confident this season. I believe I will be better than last season,” Atsu said in an interview with The Chronicle.
“I’m working hard. I know I will give my best for Newcastle and they will see the best of me.
The former FC Porto winger can play as an attacking midfielder and both left and right wing – made 32 appearances for Newcastle and scored five goals in the 2016/2017 season.
“There’s nothing new now for me. I don’t have to find a new house, so I can settle in well. I just want to play. I want to do well for the fans and the team. There is no stress. But we want wins and we want to be focused for the Premier League in a few weeks.”
Despite making 15 starts in his 32 appearances, Atsu is focusing on making a bigger impact and subsequently impress manager Raphael Benitez, by staking a wild claim for a regular team play.
“This is where the season starts for us. We will keep fighting and providing competition for the team. The main aim is to fight for [a place in] the first XI and give 100 per cent.”
