The management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) has rendered an unqualified apology to service personnel who were assaulted by soldiers and police officers detailed to maintain law and order following the registration process.
A group of military and policemen have been captured in a video manhandling some of the prospective national service personnel who were going through the process at NSS centers in Accra.
But a statement issued by the Acting Executive Director Ussif Mustapha, it said, ‘Management wishes to state that the incidents are regrettable, and therefore wishes to apologise to all such national service personnel and the general public for the recorded incidents of congestion which led to the manhandling’.
It appealed to the personnel to remain calm as it puts in measures to ease the congestion.
