It has emerged that the five Asante Kotoko players who were recently called up by Coach Maxwell Konadu to the Local Black Stars camp to prepare for a CHAN qualifier are not fully fit.
The unfit quintet comprising goalkeeper Felix Annan and outfield players Emmanuel Gyamfi, Saddick Adams, Amos Frimpong and Awal Mohammed started light training just last week but were included in the Local Black Stars 28-man squad for the CHAN 2018 qualifier against Burkina Faso on August 11 in Ouagadougou.
The management of the Porcupine Warriors has informed the Local Black Stars technical team not to put the five players through rigorous training sessions, according to the Public Relations Officer of Asante Kotoko Obed Acheampong.
“We made it clear to the leaders of the Local Black Stars that is the current state of the players,” Obed told Ultimate FM.
“As a matter of fact they needed to honour the invitataion so that the leadership of the local Black Stars will get to know their situation, so that they continue with the plan we have for them.
“They [players] are not fully fit but per the programme we have for them, that is what they are going to continue.”
After their fatal accident on July 12, the Porcupine Warriors are yet to return to action both in the league and FA Cup, but has since started light training in a bit to shape up.
Meanwhile, their FA Cup match against NEA Salamina to second week of August whiles their epic clash against Hearts of Oak is scheduled for August 6.
