Stop defending EC Boss-Ayariga to NDC

The founder of All People’s Congress (APC) Dr Hassan Ayariga is admonishing members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to desist from holding brief for the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Charlotte Osei following the internal wrangling in the commission.

He entreated NDC members not to blame members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of being behind the accusations levelled against Madam Charlotte in the petition by some faceless staff of the EC.

He advised NDC members to disabuse the notion that every petition to the President emanate from the NPP camp to hit at their detractors.

Dr Ayariga urged NDC members not to waste their energies on the EC Boss arguing that some of the allegations levelled against her could be true.

Some members of the NDC have accused the NPP of concocting the petition which is calling for the removal of the EC Boss.

But speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra, Dr Ayariga indicated that he’s not surprised about the counter accusations spewed by the EC Boss and her two deputies Madam Georgina Opoku Amankwaa and Amadu Sulley.

He described the EC Boss as ‘disrespectful and arrogant’ suggesting that the three commissioners be booted out of office.

Dr Ayariga argued that the commissioners have lost their moral authority calling on them to cease fire.

‘I am really not surprised at all, at the events unfolding at the EC, actually when all these hullabaloo started with the issue of the petition to the President and EOCO,…. my brothers and friends in the NDC started accusing the NPP and their members of being behind this saga. They said the NPP were working and plotting against the EC Boss for her removal. I told them look you need to be very careful. I said the NDC should stay away from such kind of allegations because the issues are serious and the petition is not coming from members of NPP but its actually coming from members of the commission,’ he said.

He questioned why the NDC would accuse the NPP of witch-hunting the EC Boss when she’s not a member of their party.

‘Charlotte Osei is not NDC woman so why do you say government is witch-hunting her? is it because members of the commission have petitioned the President and you think its the government?, No its not the NPP or the President so lets wait to see how the issue will unfold, I know this woman, some of the allegations could be true, because they said she is arrogant, disrespectful and does not call for meetings, I know of this character of the EC Boss,’ he alleged.

He said the Commission is no more credible with regards to the counter accusations fearing that future elections will not be credible saying the commissioners have dented the image of the commission.

Dr Ayariga said its totally wrong on the part of political parties to politicise issues.
