Head coach for Obuasi Ashanti Gold C.K Akonnor has described their win against WAFA on Sunday as a collective effort.
Ashanti Gold posted a two nil victory against the Sogakope-based club in their match day 21 outstanding game at the Obuasi Len Clay Park. First and second half goals from Hans Kwoffie and Samed Ibrahim was all the ‘Elephants’ needed to pick themselves out of the relegation zone.
The win has thus lifted the Miners from the relegation zone to the 12th position with 31 points.
“It’s a team effort and am very much elated for the win [against WAFA],” Akonnor said in a post-match interview.
“We knew they [WAFA] will possess the ball more than us. The way they played in the first half, their pressing and understanding at any given time they knew what to do.
“We then put pressure on them so they resorted to kicking the ball – something which is not familiar with them. It helped us tactically to do a good job,” he concluded.
They will play as guest to Bechem United in their next league at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on match day 25.
