The Eastern Regional secretariat of Lands Commission has taken inventories of all state vested Lands available for government to implement some of its flagship programs particularly the One -District -One Factory and the Planting for food and jobs.
The Eastern Regional Lands Officer of the Lands Commission, Surveyor S. Hans Jorie, tells ultimate news’, Eastern Regional Correspondent, Kojo Ansah, the move is to facilitate the projects on litigation free lands for smooth implementation in the region .
” One of the mandates of the commission is to manage state lands on behalf of the President and right now we have taken inventories of all state acquired lands in the Eastern region and we’ve made it available to the government for authorities to know where state lands are.
You know those days, large track of lands were acquired for agricultural purposes some for resettlement which are not being used. So we have identified them, when you go to Affram Plains we have over 14 square land miles, when you go to Apagusu, when you go to Okobeyeyie we have 5 square miles there so all these things are being made available to government so that it can roll out its planting for food and other visions. So we are ready for government’s agenda and business”.
Planting for Food and Jobs as well as One -District -One Factory are major policies of the ruling New Patriotic Party Government with the aim of boosting agriculture and creating jobs to minimize the unemployment rate and with an overall effect on growing the economy.
Both programs are scheduled to take off this year.
