A/R: Over 100 Girls to benefit from mentorship programme

The District Chief Executive of Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region William Asante Bediako has launched a Girl Child Mentorship programme to empower young girls to study to the highest level.

The Programme seeks to select 100 young girls in the community who would benefit from mentorship and empowerment seminars to further their education to the tertiary level.

Speaking to Ultimate News’ Fremah Boakye, Lawyer William Asante Bediako explained that the move was necessitated due to the low literacy rate in the community especially among young girls.

According to him, the selected girls are between fourteen to twenty-two years who were selected by the District Education Office.

DCE of the Manso Nkwanta municipality intends to help the selected girls further their education through funds generated from the Amansie West District Education endowment Fund.

He adds that the programme is not all about money, stating that ‘when you are mentoring somebody is not all about money. I just want to expose them to certain people who are also from the rural areas like our place but because of their interest in education, they are now somebody, they are now big people’.

He believes this mentorship programme will challenge the selected young girls to aim and achieve their goals.
