GHOne News’ first anniversary: Bola Ray writes

Dear Colleagues, Today marks GHOne News’ first anniversary. The growth we have attained in the last 12 months certainly calls for a celebration.
It also calls for forward thinking because, without question, our greatest accomplishments still lie ahead of us. This journey began with a diverse team of both experienced and entry- level talents, unsure about the task ahead, but still ever-ready for the journey.
We knew only two things: we wanted to be credible and we wanted to become the new standard. There had been minimal innovation in television broadcasting for some time. We did our research and grew passionate.
We figured that, as a reliable broadcast house offering what viewers wanted, we could have a big impact on the way in which news, current affairs, entertainment and lifestyle programming was delivered.
We have outgrown a few spaces now. However, when I think about growth, I don’t think in terms of office space, employees or revenue.
Instead, I recall our first news broadcast and Election Hub content creation and coverage, when we would celebrate every time we made it through another segment without any calls to rectify something on screen.
It’s amazing to me that we now churn out compelling content, owned and purchased, and have grown our audience share to multiples of that which was inherited previously. People will wonder how we stayed so motivated through our first year in an industry resistant to change. It’s because we care deeply about the viewer experience and we are going to prove it to the world.
In the next few years, we will be able to proudly boast of our contributions to moulding the contemporary media landscape in Ghana and West Africa… Yes, the vision is that big! We are working hard to deliver on our mission of providing compelling, credible, entertaining content to our viewers and we are excited that they are growing in loyalty to our programming efforts.
We are doing all of these in parallel while growing our team, learning from each other and having fun along the way! Many thanks to the incredible team at GHOne News, past, present and future, and a community that’s been so supportive from the start.
I do not doubt, that without competent management, the leadership of the newsroom and the hardworking staff, we wouldn’t have made it this far.
I am so proud to be part of this team and I charge each of you to be steadfast in our mission and cohesiveness, as we work together to progress television broadcasting in West Africa. Your efforts are recognized and appreciated.
We look forward to many more anniversaries with you.
Kind regards, Nat Kwabena Adisi Chief Executive Officer.
