Update/River Offin canoe capsize: NADMO yet to provide rescue team life jackets

The Ashanti Regional branch of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is yet to provide life jackets to the the rescue team after three days search for five bodies that were drowned in River Offin at Amaadaa in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

The five bodies were drowned in the Offin River after a canoe carrying thirteen (13) farmers capsized.

Seven (7) out of the thirteen (13) farmers were able to swim to save their lives. One person was found died by the rescue team.

Atwima Mponua NPP constituency organizer Hon Oboobi Bismarck speaking to Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo said due the absence of life jackets, it has become a herculean task for the rescue team to search for the missing bodies.

However, according to the Ashanti Regional NADMO Coordinator Hon Kwabena Nsenkyire, his outfit is yet to provide the rescue team with life jackets.
