Police drop charges against ‘Delta Force 13’

The Ashanti Regional Police based on advice from the Attorney General’s Department (AG) has dropped charges against 13 members of Delta Force.

The 13 members of the pro-government vigilante group were earlier charged with conspiracy to commit crime, assault on public officer and causing unlawful damage.

The police arrested the group for manhandling the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator George Adjei at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) premises in Kumasi on March 24, 2017 demanding for his removal.

They escaped court custody with the aide of their eight colleagues who were later arrested and released. They were fined and asked to sign a bond to be of good behaviour.

Delta Force 13 were discharged and re-arrested after the prosecutor, ACP Okyere Darko, applied for withdrawal of the earlier charges in court based on the advice by the AG on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
