Exton Cubic Group has filed a lawsuit against the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Peter Amewu for revoking their mining license.
The company described the Minister’s action as abuse of power.
“The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources acted ultra vires [beyond] his statutory powers when he revoked Exton Cubic Group Limited mining leases. Revoking of its license was breach of the rules of natural Justice, and in breach of the company’s rights to administrative justice and property,’ lawyers for the company said.
The Minister revoked the company’s license describing it as ‘invalid’ after the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah seized equipment belonging to Engineers and Planners (E&P) which was subcontracted by Exton Cubic to prospect for bauxite at its concession at Nyinanhini.
Exton Cubic Group which has issued series of threats to sue the Minister after the revocation is seeking an order of injunction preventing the Ministry from granting its mining rights to another company.
