First Lady joins thousands in Koforidua to Walk against Breast Cancer

First Lady of Ghana,Mrs.Rebecca Akufo Addo has joined thousands of people in Koforidua, Eastern Regional Capital Saturday October 14,2017 to walk against Breast Cancer .

The Walk dubbed “Walk for Cure ” will start from the Prisons Junction and end at the Jackson park starting 6am.

The First Lady will be accompanied by other Ministers of State and other government officials to take part in the 2017 edition of Walk Against Breast Cancer.

The annual event which is under the auspices of Breast Care International (BCI), Africa’s foremost campaigner against breast cancer ,a disease described by Health experts as a leading cause of dead in Africa in particular .The Campaign is to create awareness about early detection and treatment of breast cancer to significantly reduce the alarming morality rate .

Prior to the event, a mammoth free breast screening exercise was organized for several churches in Koforidua while awareness creation has been unprecedented .

Participants will get opportunity to be screened for for free after the walk .

The President of Breast Care International ,BCI, Beatrice Wiafe Addai says ,all is set for the Walk in Koforidua. she said ,it is imperative for Women in particular to endeavour to participate and get screen .

The Eastern Regional Minister ,Eric Kwakye Darfuor has urged all inhabitants in the region to take part in the Walk and take advantage to get screened .

Meanwhile ,the Eastern Regional Police Command has announced its readiness to provide adequate security for the participants of the Walk.
