Asamoah Gyan and 20 players report for training in Cape Coast

The Black Stars of Ghana opened training on tuesday ahead of the final World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Sunday at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Captain Asamoah Gyan was present at training leading a side dominated by foreign based players with goalkeeper Joe Addo as the only player from the local league.

New additions to the squad, Nasiru Mohammed and Nana Opoku Ampomah were all part of the team as they prepare for the Egypt game on Sunday.

Missing at training were Astana forward Patrick Twumasi who won his fourth Kazakhstani league on Sunday and Columbus Crew defender Harrison Afful.

The dup are expected to join the squad on today as Coach Kwesi Appiah looks to secure Ghana’s first home win in these qualifiers by defeating the Egyptians.

Egypt have already qualified for the World Cup but Ghana will be playing for pride, however, Coach Kwesi Appiah sees the games as an opportunity to test new players in the squad.
