The final funeral rites of the Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II is underway at the Manhyia Palace.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life clad in black and red clothes including the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his Vice Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former President John Agyekum Kufuor and other government officials, Members of Parliament have gathered at the Palace to commiserate with the Asante king.
Chiefs who serve under the Asanteman traditional council have also gathered at the palace to pay homage to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who has lost his mother.
Rituals are being performed by the priests and priestesses locally called ‘Akomfuo’ amidst drumming and dancing of ‘adowa and kete’.
Petty traders are raking in monies.
Security presence is very tight on the grounds.
