The country continues to face acute shortage of blood supply which leads to scores of preventable deaths during particular periods such as before and after the Yuletide season.

The National Blood Service who partnered with the Duffuor Foundation this year to undertake the “Gift of Life November” exercise indicates that only 1% of Ghana’s population is needed to donate blood regularly to stock the blood bank, yet even this number remains a huge challenge and leads to alarming shortages.
