Expats Extortion: No Problem With Public Sitting -Mensah-Bonsu

The Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has stated that they do not have any problem if the ad hoc committee embarks on a public sitting following the investigations into the expatriates’ payments to the Trade Ministry.

According to him, the committee should be able to define the modalities to be used for the public sitting in order to get the public satisfaction.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame constituency told Starr News, “They’ll have to define for themselves. I have told the committee to define and if they want to do public sitting it’s up to them, just so the public will be satisfied’.

For transparency to prevail, the minority in Parliament is calling for a a public sitting into the matter.

Some business moguls were charged huge sums of monies just to share a table with the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during Ghana Expatiates Business Awards weeks ago.

The Committee members include:

Chairman: Ameyaw Kyeremeh Majority Chief Whip

Dr. Assibey Yeboah, Chairman of the Finance Committee of Parliament

Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, MP for Adentan.

Minority members include: James Klutse Avedzie, Deputy Minority Leader

Dominic Ayine, MP for Bolgatanga East.
