Investigate former MCE for New Juaben -Group

A group calling itself Concerned Citizens of New Juaben is calling for immediate investigations into some alleged corrupt activities undertaken by the former Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben, Dr.Kwaku Owusu Acheampong.

Addressing a News Conference Wednesday, the Secretary to the group, Opoku Nsiah Amaning produced evidence of report released by a committee of inquiry constituted by the Presiding Member and General Assembly of the New Juaben Municipal Assembly to ascertain actual contractual agreement between the Assembly and the Version Link Ventures for the construction of some toilet facilities at Srodae and Betom as well as lease of the Assembly’s Land earmarked for other purposes to Melcom Group of companies.

The committee established that due diligence was not done by the Assembly.

The Group believes the three undertakings shrouded in corruption and fraud involving thousands of cedis, hence the call for further investigations by state security Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

In the last 5 years, the Assembly has been involved in 3 Major undertakings where the supreme interest of the inhabitants as well as the Assembly as a whole, was relegated back door, while individual interest were promoted,’ the group said.
