Workers at the Kumasi Children’s Hospital have threatened to lay down their tools over an unpaid monthly salary.
This decision was borne out of a decision by the hospital’s management not to pay 2018 January salaries due to their inability to complete validation exercise which captures their salaries.
A worker at the hospital told Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo that the decision was revealed to workers during a meeting.
According to the source, workers have threatened to lay down their tools if the management fails to do something about the situation.
The aggrieved workers questioned said it was a deliberate attempt by management not to pay their January salaries.
“We the angry workers have warned the management to finish the validation process as soon as possible, else face our wrath. How can we work for one month without salary all because of a management member’s failure to perform his duty? What we can say now is that No salary No work because we can’t do the work with empty stomach. We want the management to come again,” the worker said.
They said a date for the strike will be made public soon.
