Schools at Foase in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region have been closed down following a clash between residents, soldiers and police officers.
School children have been asked to remain in doors.
Two persons were shot dead while others sustained injuries after residents of Foase clashed with Police officers on Wednesday February 7, 2018.
The residents of Foase locked up the office of the District Chief Executive of Atwima Kwanwoma District Okyere Tawiah over relocation of the District capital from Foase to Twedie.
The Residents clashed with the police officers when they came to the community to unlock the DCE’s offfice.
Some Parents speaking in an interview with Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo said they won’t allow their children to go to school due to the situation in the community.
A visit by Abusua FM indicates that all the schools have been closed.
‘We are highly disappointed in NPP government led by President Nana Addo because the way they are handling the issue is unfair.
‘The Police and the Military team came here just to kill us but not to calm down the situation,’ they said.
Meanwhile, the students said they are don’t feel comfortable to go to school fearing that they might be killed.
They appealed to authorities to come to water down the situation.
