The Chief and the entire People of Nyamebekyere in the Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti Region will on Thursday February 15, 2018 celebrate one week of the late Dancehall artiste Patricia Opoku Kwarteng popularly known as Ebony.
Ebony met her untimely death when she was involved in a fatal accident on Thursday February 8, 2018 at Nyamebekyere on the Kumasi -Sunyani road.
The death of Ebony has thrown the people of Nyamebekyere into a state of shock.
Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo reported that the place where Ebony accident occurred has been named “Ebony Junction”.
The Chief of Nyamebekyere Nana Antwi Adjei speaking in an interview with Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo said people of Nyamebekyere will meet on Thursday to mourn and celebrate the one week of Ebony.
According to Nana Antwi Adjei though Ebony is not a native of Nyamebekyere, her sudden death occurred in the community.
‘I will meet my people on Thursday and we are all going to wear red and black to mourn Ebony death. Ebony was not for her family alone but the whole Ghana and her accident also occurred in Nyamebekyere so we will meet to celebrate her one week. Nobody will go to farm on Thursday because of Ebony’s one week celebration,’ he said.
Meanwhile, the Unit Committee Chairman of Nyamebekyere Electoral area Duah Francis appealed to government to fix Nyamebekyere deplorable roads to help reduce accident on the road.
According to him, no development has been made on the road after Ebony’s accident.
‘Ebony accident is not the first accident which has happened here, many lives have been lost due to bad road in our community. We have complained it several times and we have had promises as far as our road is concern but nothing good has come out from it,” he said.
