Amidu to be sworn in by Akufo-Addo as Parliament approves his nomination

Martin Amidu will be sworn in at a date yet to be known by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo following his approval by Parliament today (Tuesday) as the Special Prosecutor.

Though there is a pending lawsuit against the nomination of Mr Amidu challenging his age, he was approved by Parliament and later to be sworn in by the President.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Bolga East constituency who is also the former deputy Attorney General Dominic Ayine who filed the lawsuit was booed by his colleagues when he attempted to prevent the approval.

Mr Amidu was vetted by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Tuesday February 13, 2018.

He was unanimously approved by the committee immediately after his vetting with only Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini MP for Tamale North constituency objecting.
