The Aspiring National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Brogya Genfi has alleged that the Akufo-Addo’s government is planning to collapse the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
According to him, the NHIA is going to suffer greatly because it will soon be merged with the National Identification Authority (NIA).
He claimed most workers of the National Identification Authority will be sacked when the merger takes off.
Speaking on Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, Mr Genfi claimed that most of the printer machines and other logistics that will aide workers’ duties have been broken down without repairs.
Mr Genfi said NHIA workers now idle around the offices because there is no work for them to do.
He added that less attention is being paid to the NHIS saying government is hugely investing in the NIA at the detriment of the NHIS fund.
‘What most people do not know is that the NPP government is planning to collapse the NHIS. They are going to merge NHIA with National Identification Authority (NIA). NHIS is going to suffer greatly, the NIA has its focus and objectives as well as the NHIA, if you want to merge these two institutions, you are going to disrupt the various strategic focus of any of these organisations and people are going to lose jobs.
‘…Many of the schemes are unable to renew cards and renewals. From the intelligence gathered, maybe in a month or two you will hear the Vice President making the announcement. You can check from the Economic Management Team or the Vice President’s office, if what I’m saying is true or false,’ he alleged.
Commenting on the performance of government’s appointees in relation to the current Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) by the Transparency International, he described the 110 appointees as ‘incompetent’ who are collapsing the country’s economy by dipping their hands in the state coffers.
The Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of NDC alleged that the Akufo-Addo’s government is becoming the most corrupt government as compared to successive governments.
‘Sanitation minister doing nothing in his office but he’s being paid at the end of the day,’ he fumed.
But a private legal practitioner Kwame Adofo described the allegation as ‘false’ saying the NDC members are thriving on propaganda and lies just to win cheap political points.
‘…My brother, do you know that now if you want to register a company, you have to have a TIN number?, they are linking the systems, its for the improvement to make sure that people are paying their taxes… They come and lie and expect that it will stick,’ he asserted.
