The Tafo Pankrono District Police Command on Monday March 12, 2018 at about 9:00am arrested suspects Isaac Opoku, 22 years, Isaac Kwakye 25 years and Nana Akwasi 28 years black smith for robbing their victim of One Thousand Ghana Cedis and a deposit pass book of a bank.
The suspects on board a Toyota Corrola Taxicab with registration number GR 9607-Z at Breman UGC junction stopped and picked their victim.
On reaching a section of the road known as Abawa road junction, the suspects diverted their course towards the new road, when they got to an area known as Afrikiko around Breman UGC, suspect, Nana Akwasi pulled a dagger and threatened to stab the victim if he dares make any noise in the car, to attract attention of others.
The suspect then forcibly removed all the money the victim had on him after which they pushed the victim out of the car.
The victim mustered courage and stopped another taxi cab to chase the suspects. When he got closer to the vehicle, he raised an alarm attracting the attention of on lookers.
They quickly went to his aid and accosted the suspects and got them arrested.
They took the suspect to the Tafo Pankrono where they were re-arrested and detained for further investigation.
Addressing journalists, the Regional Commander COP Ken Yeboah said, ‘The modus-operandi of these suspects is that the driver together with two occupants will initially be on board the vehicle they will then stop and pick a victim who stops them from their services’.
‘The suspect driver will ask the passenger where he is going and when the victim tells them, they pretend to be going toward the same direction,’ he added.
The suspect driver will later divert its course and then pick their accomplice compelling their victim to sit in the middle at the back seat.
After travelling for a distance, they will then rob their victim. After which they will pull the victim out of the vehicle and bolt away leaving them to their fate.
In another development on Tuesday March 13, 2018 a Kumasi Highway Patrol Team intercepted a Kumasi- Nzema bound vehicle and upon a search arrested suspect Amuzu Awal 42 years resident, of Akaaso near Bibiani with a locally made pistol three (3) lives cartridges and a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis.
Suspect has since been handed to the Regional CID for further investigation.
