The Assembly Member for Afia Kobi Electoral Area Salifu Muslim has charged the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to enforce sanitation laws to enable it deal with people who indiscriminately dispose waste in the city.
Residents in Kumasi have recently raised concerns over how filth has engulfed parts of the city especially the central business district.
Salifu Muslim speaking in an interview with Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo said enforcement of sanitation laws will make the garden city clean again.
Salifu Muslim expressed displeasure over poor sanitation in Afia Kobi Electoral Area especially Alabar due to lack of waste bins in the area calling on KMA to put in measures to beef up the sanitation fight in the Kumasi Metropolis.
According to Salifu Muslim, concerted efforts are needed to be able to tackle sanitation issues in the metropolis especially the central business district.
“The assembly is doing its best to win the fight against sanitation in the Kumasi Metropolis. We have to enforce our sanitation laws to enable it deal with persons who violate such bye-laws. After enforcing the sanitation laws, the assembly has to provide waste bins to help end poor sanitation in the Kumasi Metropolis” he said.
Salifu Muslim however urged the people in the region to change their attitudes towards sanitation in the region.
