The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA0 has closed down a container structure being used to sell fuel in beer bottles and gallons at Kojokrom in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis.
Acting on a tip off, the EPA officials from the Western Regional Headquarters led by George Diewuo quickly rushed to the place to find quantities of fuel including diesel and super in jelly cans that had been put in bottles and gallons of various sizes for sale to motorists.
Some residents tell the EPA officials motorists patronise the fuel because it is relatively cheaper as compared to the normal pump price at the fuel stations.
Mr Diewuo told Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson apart from operating without permit, the mode of operation by the owner is also illegal since it poses serious danger to both motorists and pedestrians since the location of the operation was just a few meters away from the main lorry terminal at Kojokrom.
The owner reportedly absconded upon seeing the EPA officials.
The police have mount a search on the suspects.
