Recently we heard our Vice President Dr. Bawumia after his return from his medical leave decided launch the Restoration of the teacher trainees allowance. One of the major campaign promise of the Npp prior to the 2016 elections.
We heard how Nana Addo and Bawumia tagged John MAHAMA to be a “wicked” man for refusing to pay the allowances of the teacher trainees.
MAHAMA explained that his agenda is to:
1.Elevate all the teacher training colleges to tertiary status.
2.To Increase the intake of students by 100% to give way to all those willing and qualified to attend training colleges to enable them get the opportunity to serve their nation.
3.To increase the student loan by 150% percent and make it accessible to all students at all levels.
4.To increase infrastructure in all our training institutions to enable them accommodate the 100% increased in enrollment proposed by the NDC government which had even taken effect in 2015.
5.To liaise with our missions(Embassies) abroad to facilitate export of some of our excess teachers, nurses and other professionals just like Cuba is doing to reduce unemployment in the country.
Recently Liberia requested for over 10,000 teachers from Nigeria which they couldn’t supply. An arrangement which would’ve fit into NDCs proposed agenda to reduce unemployment drastically and also fetch our country foreign exchange in return.
These and many more were the good reasons behind the cancellation of the teacher trainee allowance which partly and largely led to our defeat in 2016.
NPP took political advantage of the cancelation of the allowance and won the heart of the electorates without digging into the possible benefits the cancelation of the allowance will bring to the people of Ghana.
Npp after taking over, they refused to honour their promise on the Restoration with the first three months as promised our teachers and nurses.
They rather reduced the intake in all our training schools by 40% as indicated in a widely circulated letter from both GES and Ghana Health Service. This action has made most of our brothers and sisters denied admission into our various training institutions.
They deliberately delayed the payment so that all final year students who campaigned and voted for them will be exempted from enjoying the allowance.
Even after they mistakenly made some payments to the final students due to their super incompetence, they asked the students to refund the money or forfeit their final exam. A move I advised the students not to adhere to and should even ask for payment of arrests based on the 90day restoration timeline made by the Npp when they were in opposition.
We are today informed government is unable to pay the said allowances to both the nursing and the teacher trainees and owe them for about 5months.
Because of the inability of governor to raise enough funds for the payment of the allowance, they have decided to arrange for a take over of all the Forty six(46) training colleges by our universities to enable them run a four year degree program instead of the three years which qualifies them for the allowance.
*Indirectly the Npp government has concealed the teacher trainees allowance starting from the 2018/2019 academic year for all the 46 teacher training colleges across the country.*
This shows how deceitful and wicked this government has been to the people of Ghana.
1.They couldn’t honour their promise on their 90 days restoration.
2.They reduced enrollment by 40% in all our training institutions.
3.Infrastructure has recorded negative on all our campuses.
4.Posting of teachers, nurses and other professionals has become a false hope to the people of Ghana.
5.The reduction of the intake by our training institutions has made most of our SHS graduates unable to gain admission to our training institutions.
6.They have finally *CANCELLED* the allowance for the 2018/2019 batch.
7.All students from of our training colleges wont be automatically posted by GES but have to go and look for their own jobs just like other university graduates.
In Somanya, during the Unity walk rally, John MAHAMA said the defeat of the NDC in 2016 is God’s plan to expose the diabolic plans of the Npp.
He said God did that to make the people of Ghana know what the Npp is made up of.And our God who has never disappoint us has shown the world the true nature of the Npp in their first two years in power.
God will continue to expose them till NDC members wave their white Victory handkerchiefs come 2020 as prophesied by Prophet Gaisiel.
The 2020 victory for the NDC is possible, but it’s just a matter of time.
