The President of IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe has suggested to the Akufo-Addo’s government to stop being hypocritical about the Jubilee House 998 staff.
He chastised the government for engaging in double speaking, questioning why they criticized the Mahama administration for running a bloated staff when they knew they would do same.
Mr Cudjoe said the Akufo-Addo’s government is doing exactly what the Mahama administration did, blasting NPP bigwigs for defending the 998 staffing at the presidency.
He expressed worry about the refusal by NPP supporters to pay fidelity to the fact.
Speaking on Starr Today, he said, ‘The sad thing though is that, the same persons who a while back were chastising previous governments for running a bloated bureaucracy are today defending the same bloated number by suggesting he (President Akufo-Addo) didn’t promise a lean government.
“…That’s where my disappointed really lies, realizing that we have been double speaking and I don’t think it is fair. So anyhow you look at it my worry and disappointment is in the fact that they haven’t paid fidelity to the fact and it is of course worrying’.
The office of the President and its peripheral institutions is said to have employed a total number of 998 workers since 2017.
There are 9 ministers of state, 27 presidential staffers, 256 other/junior appointees and 706 employees of public/civil service staff.
A section of Ghanaians and opposition parties have criticised the Akufo-Addo’s government for employing such a huge staff at a time the country is struggling to fix its economy describing it as ‘job for the boys’.
