Students’ of the Kintampo College of Health and Well-Being in the Brong Ahafo Region have demonstrated to urge authorities to appoint a substantive Principal for the institution.
The students numbering close to 600 demonstrated on the principal streets of Kintampo to register their displeasure about the absence of a substance of a substantive Principal and also the school running of three degree programmes that are not accredited.
The students carried placards of which some read “Incompetent Management must go,” “No accreditation no exams,” “Samuel Ofori a disgrace to students leadership,” and “Allotey Okyere, F.F. Appiah and others must go.”
Edward Etse Aloryito speaking on behalf of the students urged the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to act swiftly to ensure there is sanity of the campus of the institution.
Edward Etse Aloryito revealed that the college is running three unaccredited degree programmes namely; Physician Assistant, Mental Health and Dental Therapy.
He said the authorities are not speeding-up to ensure the accreditation of the programmes though students are pursuing them.
He called for the appointment of a substantive Principal to steer the affairs at the college.
“Things are collapsing here because there is no Principal to steering the affairs of the school and things are falling apart. We therefore urging the Vice President to act quickly to salvage what are left,” Aloryito appealed.
The Deputy Municipal Coordinating Director at the Kintampo Municipal Assembly, Mr. Jasper Adenyo who received the petition on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Michael Sarkodie Baffoe commended the students for organizing a peaceful demonstration without destroying properties.
