Nestlé is set to tour the Ashanti Region with activations outlined for its annual nationwide NIDO Nutrition Day buzz aimed at meeting the nutritional needs of millions of children.
The company’s demand driven powdered milk product – Nido Essentia – enriched with Iron and Vitamin C has been voted as a vital solution to reducing under nutrition as the World Health Organization (WHO), puts the number of school age children suffering iron deficiency in Ghana, at a whopping 70%.
Nido Nutrition Day events explore drama, play and a series of insightful seminars to educate children and their parents especially mothers and caregivers in various basic schools.
This year’s cycle, the third of the movement which begun in the capital Accra is expected to continue the education on the importance of good nutrition to help address micronutrient deficiencies in children.
There is also a fun side of the whole event where mothers who participate in a nutrition quiz during the event stand the chance to win a year’s supply of Nido for their wards.
As part of efforts to demonstrate the company’s aim at enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future, Nestlé has formulated three new bold ambitions to achieve by 2030
They cut across helping 50 million children lead healthier lives; Improving 30 million livelihoods in communities connected to Nestlé’s business activities and Striving for zero environmental impact in Nestlé operations.
Nestlé has also set 42 public commitments towards 2020 to support these objectives and continue to impact positively the society worldwide and specifically Central and West Africa.
