Students, teacher’s upbeat as Ultimate FM A/R SHS Quiz gets ready to take off.

The Ultimate FM SHS Quiz with the Ashanti region Student Representative Council promises to be one of the biggest, exciting and most competitive arts biased quizzes for all Senior High Schools in the Ashanti region.

Twenty four (24) out of a hundred and twenty (120) schools are expected to find their way from the four (4) zones and battle it out into the top four where the ultimate Winner for the Ultimate FM SRC SHS quiz will be decided.

The launch saw in attendance executives of the Ashanti Region Student Representative Council, Student leaders from all senior high schools and the Ashanti regional director of the Ghana Education Service Madam Mary Owusu Akyiaw.

Already, students are upbeat about their chances in this quiz and have begun showing off their wits ahead of the preliminary rounds.

A candidate from Kumasi High School Bernard Addai pointed out, “When you say mmrantie, we respond action because we are always prepared. We are good at everything we do and we are bringing the best on board for the whole country to witness.”

The Adehyie ladies from the Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School insisted, “We were named after Nana Yaa Asantewaa who was a brave woman and we are coming with all the bravery and the charisma to do a lot of things and we are going to win.”

Amenyo Felicia from the Kunadu Yiadom Senior High School was positive; the Ultimate FM A/R SHS Quiz 2018 is an opportunity for their school to find itself in the limelight for its academic exploits. For a long time, people look down on our school and we think it is time we lift our school to the level it should be and we are expecting great things in this quiz.”

The teachers who are likely elated at the challenge told Ultimate News they have already devised time tables to prepare students ahead of the contest.

A teacher from the Oppong Memorial Senior High School was confident, “We are going to see surprises, shock, and wonders from OMESS this year from Kokofu. We have prepared the grounds. Students who are going to contest are seriously being handled by teachers and they will not even break for the Christmas. They are to stay back to study hard to win the ultimate.”

“If you know the history of Kumasi High School, Arts and business have been our ultimate dominance for all these years. AND if it comes to character and resilience, there is no school that comes near to MMrantie. We take these competitions like peanuts and all the other schools should stay put because we are aiming at the ultimate,” a Kumasi High School teacher Kofi Kwarteng Kwakye popularly called KK cautioned.

Ashanti Region SRC Coordinator Raphael Sakodie points out that the quiz unlike other purely academic exercises will test the knowledge of students beyond the books.

He explained, “It is going to be four rounds of competition which covers every aspect of English and social studies. The third round will focus on current affairs because a lot of students are ignorant about national happenings around them and we are here to make them learn.”

Mr Sarkodie disclosed that this quiz also has a rather innovative audio – visual quiz where “voices, pictures and videos are going to be played. It will be centred on exciting personalities, places, personalities and scenarios for students to identify for marks. All that we are doing is for students to study outside the scope of their core subjects and I am promising you it is going to be exciting.”
