Tech Meets Culture as Ghana Hosts Re:publica Africa on December 14 & 15

Ghana is set to have a direct feel of Re:publica for the first time as Accra hosts the well acclaimed digital transformation conference on the theme “Tech & Tradition:  How does technology impact our traditions & vice versa.”

With its origin in Berlin, Re:publica has developed in the last 10 years into an important conference and festival on digital transformation and society.

The event, Re;publica Africa which is coming off on Thursday December 14 to Friday December15 at the International Trade Fair Centre in Accra is expected to be attended by an anticipated number of 800 participants across the globe.

The participants will span across business Incubation Hubs; innovators;entrepreneurs; concept originators; business executives; students and a wide array of professional influencers from Ghana and abroad.

The youthful buzz ahead of the epic event is already high as Re:publica in collaboration with Kumasi Hive and the Deutsche Gesellsgchaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), have concluded a well attended pre-event conference in Kumasi to discuss how technology and tradition impact each other.

Institutions present at the pre-event conference were the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology – Department of Planning, Hapa Space, Centre for Social Innovation (CSI), the No Business as Usual (NBU) Hub and WiSTEM 

With the rich and widely untapped cultural heritage of Africa, the focus of Re:publica Africa 2018 finds itself in the most ideal location as it discusses how technology and the digital space can be harnessed to project culture

Ghana was chosen as host country for Re:publica Africa due to the immense participation from African speakers in the last years, its democratic credentials and favourable environment for technology and innovations.

The Country Director of GIZ Dr. Alan Walsch together with representatives of GIZ,both local and international will be on hand to share their thoughts and contributions on the major topics which will border on transforming the world through tech and culture.

The forum will expose participants to innovations, and afford them the chance to network through active discussions and group deliberations to build on their contacts,knowledge and idea banks.
